In short
- Your documents are opened, edited and saved on your phone. We never upload them, and we have no server that receives them.
- There is no account. We don’t collect your name, email address, contacts or files.
- The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect device identifiers and usage data to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first.
1. Who we are
“PDF Reader & Editor: Tools” (the “app”) is published on Google Play by Sadahadhramowt Technology (“we”). You can reach us at himdoon3@gmail.com.
2. Your documents stay on your phone
Everything the app does with your documents happens on your device: reading, searching, editing, signing, converting, compressing, merging, text recognition (OCR), summaries, translation and reading aloud.
- The app opens only the files you choose, through the Android file picker or “Open with”, and gets access to those files only.
- Results are saved where you choose. When you share a file, it goes to the app you pick, and that app’s privacy policy applies.
- When you scan, the photos are taken by Google’s document scanner (part of Google Play services) or by your phone’s camera app, and the images stay on your phone. The app itself has no camera permission.
3. What the app keeps on your phone
To work properly, the app stores the following in its private storage on your device. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and it is excluded from Android cloud backup.
- Your list of recent files, reading positions and bookmarks.
- Your settings, such as the app language, reading mode, text size and recently used colours.
- Your handwritten signature, if you choose to save it.
- Text taken from your recent documents so you can search inside them, and the text recognised from scanned pages. These caches are limited in size and cleared over time.
- Temporary working copies of files while you edit them.
- A digital-signature key, if you create or import one. It is kept in the Android Keystore on your phone. The password of an imported certificate file is used once to import it and is not stored. The name and details you enter for a certificate are written into the documents you sign with it.
4. Downloads the app makes
Some features need extra data the first time you use them. These downloads don’t contain your documents or personal information. The servers that provide them see the technical details of any internet request, such as your IP address.
- Text-recognition language data (Tesseract “tessdata_fast” files) from GitHub, for the language you choose.
- Optional parts of the app (text recognition and translation) through Google Play.
- Translation language models from Google ML Kit, and on-device summary models through Android AICore on phones that support it.
- A small settings file from our website (pdf-reader-editor-tools.web.app) that tells the app whether to show ads. It contains nothing about you.
Reading aloud uses the text-to-speech engine installed on your phone, such as Google Speech Services. That engine is provided under its own terms.
5. Advertising
The app is free because it shows ads from Google AdMob: banners, full-screen ads after a finished task or when you come back to the app, and optional rewarded ads that you can choose to watch to unlock some tools for 30 minutes.
To show and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:
- your device’s advertising ID and app set ID;
- your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location;
- device and app information, such as the model, Android version and language;
- how you interact with ads, and diagnostic data about the ad SDK’s performance and crashes.
Ads are personalised only with your consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google’s consent form appears before any ad loads, and US state privacy choices are offered where required. If the form was shown to you, you can change your choice at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy settings. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone’s settings.
The content of your documents is never shared with advertisers. Google’s use of this data is described in Google’s Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
6. What we collect
We, the developer, do not collect, store, sell or share your personal information. The app has no analytics and no account system.
Crash reports. When the app crashes, a crash report is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix the problem. It contains the technical details of the crash (where in the app’s code it happened), the device model, Android version, app version, and a random installation identifier created by Crashlytics. It never contains your documents, file names or their content. Google keeps crash reports for 90 days. See the Firebase privacy information.
Apart from crash reports, the only data that leaves your phone is what Google’s advertising services collect, as described above, and the technical details of the downloads in section 4. Google Play also shows the in-app rating card and update prompts; these are handled by Google Play, and we only see ratings and reviews the way they appear on Google Play.
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age in your country, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Security
Data the app keeps is stored in its private storage, which Android protects from other apps. Connections made by Google’s services use encryption (HTTPS).
9. Deleting your data
- Remove a file from your recent files by holding it in the list.
- Delete everything the app keeps by clearing its storage (Android Settings → Apps → PDF Reader & Editor → Storage → Clear storage) or by uninstalling the app.
- For data held by Google for advertising, reset or delete your advertising ID, or contact Google through its Privacy Policy.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or US state privacy laws may give you rights to access, correct or delete your personal data and to object to its use. Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to return or delete; requests about advertising data are handled by Google. You can contact us with any question about this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its date. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
